Patricia - My dear wife, for being so accepting of your crazed husband. Even though we already don't see enough of each other, you have tolerated the many hours of training, frequent discussions about bike paraphernalia, and this long 7 week absence.

My parents - Who sensibly stopped me from a similar journey when I was 19, and was therefore able to earn money for University. While I know you wish you could stop me now, you haven't actually said this - and I thank you for that.

Jessica & Amanda - For being supportive of this manic quest.

Anthony - For your support, and particularly the webpage.

Pfizer - For permitting me to take 7 weeks of my accumulated leave at once. Special thanks to my supervisor and teammates - Noemi, Barbara, Brian and Ana - who may well have to plug some holes caused by my absence. I also thank the Pfizer Foundation for their substantial contribution.

American Lung Association - For helping me with those aspects concerning fund-raising. I'm pleased to be able to contribute to their effort, and hope that they will again sponsor a "Big Ride Across America" so that others can experience the adventure.

Adventure Cycling Association - For their superior cycling maps. Special thanks to Tom Robertson who kindly answered my desperate email seeking guidance.

SportTech Oneonta - A great sports shop, and especially Mike and Ed. Not only did they sell me a fine bike and maintain it, but they even showed me (with my noteworthy lack of mechanical acumen) how to do routine maintenance.

Pauldings Bicycle Shop in White Plains (and Bob Tuck, specifically) for helping me with lots of last minute bicycle crises.

Finally, I want to thank all those many people who expressed interest and support in my journey.
